Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
What It Is:
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin, fat, or muscle from
the upper and lower eyelids and so tightens the skin and
reduces bulges while it rejuvenates the lids, it does not
correct ptosis (drooping), of the actual margin of the upper
lid, but may be done in conjunction with this surgery.
How It Works:
Incisions are made along the line creases of the upper eyelid
and/or possibly just below the lower lids lashes. When removing
fatty tissue, but not skin, the surgeon may perform a transconjunctival
blepharoplasty with hidden incision inside the lower lid.
